Young Judaea/ FZY’s Short Term Israel Program Department operates Israel Programs for students and young adult professionals of between 1-6 weeks in length.
Our programs are targeted to those students looking for both a meaningful individual and group experience in Israel and can include: hiking, sightseeing, experiencing different lifestyles in Israel, engaging with Israelis, social action/ volunteering opportunities, ulpan (learning Hebrew), different kinds of study and much more. One of our summer programs – Amirim, focuses on volunteering in Israel. The participants volunteer with many social action organizations in the Tel Aviv area and live in apartments nearby, thereby, immersing themselves in the real Israel.
The programs are open to all Jewish, English speaking students and young professionals who are looking for ways to visit Israel in an organized environment. The department offers a number of programs that cater to the specific needs and interests of the participants.
The goals of all our programs are to help build and intensify participants’ Jewish, Zionist identity, make their bond with Israel stronger and more meaningful, and allow them an amazing personal and group experience.
Our student programs are run in coordination with Hamagshimim –Young Judaea’s pluralistic, non-partisan Zionist organization for college students and young adults.
Extra information on Student programs:
Amirim
Amirim (treetops) is YJ Impact's summer volunteering program in Israel for 4 – 8 weeks.
While living in rented apartments in the Tel Aviv or Jerusalem area and experiencing genuine Israeli life, college students and young adults get to give back to the community through professional volunteering in various organizations dealing with issues ranging from human rights and the promotion of coexistence to health, education and environmental matters. While participants enjoy sufficient free time for personal exploration, we provide extra curricular activities such as: tours, cultural events, educational seminars and hikes.
Taglit - birthright israel
Hamagshimim takes part in this grand-scale international project by designing, leading and running several taglit - birthright Israel tours each year. These tours are operated by the Short Term Programs Department of Young Judaea Israel and Hamagshimim
Nitzoz
A 10-day volunteering programme for FZY bogrim in Israel, Nitzotz brings British students together with modern-day chalutzim, the Ayalim, students working to affect real change in Israel's most distressed neighbourhoods. Working together with UJIA Israel Experience and the Jewish Agency, FZY bogrim work with the Ayalim across different development towns based throughout Israel's periphery and participate in daily siyurrim engaging with the theme of Chalutziut. This year, bogrim enjoyed a free weekend to explore the country further and a day with the Aliyah Dept of the Jewish Agency, celebrating 100 years of Tel Aviv with an exclusive tour and party in Israel's vibrant metropolis. |
